When I was in high school, one of my summer routines involved mowing the grass on my family's 10 acre Minnesota property and listening to conservative AM talk radio to pass the time.
Conservative talk shows would pitch “free market capitalism” as the cure for our society’s woes. Business entrepreneurship should always be embraced, while government power should always be avoided, reduced and diminished.
The sentiment could be summarized as “government bad, corporations good”.
I thought this way for a long time. I assumed because corporations were engaging in free market capitalism, they were on “our” side. (whatever that means)
But what happens when the corporations are not on our side?
What happens when corporations are actively working to elect left-wing politicians and push left-wing social policy?
Georgia Republicans Pass a Bill Requiring Voter ID to Request Absentee Ballot . . .
Georgia Republicans passed a voter ID law which would help prevent voter fraud in future elections. The new law would require an ID to request an absentee ballot, reduce the total number of unattended ballot drop boxes and slightly shorten the window of time to request a ballot.
. . . Joe Biden calls the new law ‘Jim Crow in the 21st Century’ . . .
In response, Democrats claim this new bill is “racist”.
President Joe Biden called the bill “Jim Crow in the 21st Century” and “an atrocity” and told CNN his Justice Department would be “taking a look” at the measure.
. . . and Delta Airlines, MLB and Coca-Cola go Woke
Large Georgia-based corporations have echoed the Democrats sentiments. Delta Airlines issued a public statement against the bill, insinuating the bill prevents “equal” access to “voting rights”. Delta CEO Ed Bastian is also not worried about the economic impact of offending a large portion of his customer base, saying it’s about “something that’s more than money . . .”
Major League Baseball announced they would relocate the 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta, GA to another location due to the voter bill.
Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement "Over the last week, we have engaged in thoughtful conversations with Clubs, former and current players, the Players Association, and The Players Alliance, among others, to listen to their views . . . I have decided that the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport is by relocating this year's All-Star Game and MLB Draft."
Coca-Cola’s CEO James Quincey called the voter bill “unacceptable” and a “step backwards”. In the CNBC interview he also said, “This legislation is wrong and needs to be remedied and we will continue to advocate for it both in private and now even more clearly in public.”
Many other companies also announced their displeasure with the bill, including Citibank and Bank of America.
Republicans Try to Strike Back
Former President Donald J Trump released a statement on Delta Airlines, Coca-Cola and the MLB.
Georgia state House Republicans tried to remove a fuel tax break for Delta (who is headquartered in Atlanta) worth tens of millions each year. The bill died in the state Senate, but it marks a war footing against corporations not previously seen by establishment-type Republicans.
Josh Hawley has called for the MLB to lose their government antitrust exemption.
Corporations Have Been Our Enemy for Years; Embrace It
Multinational banks, companies and organizations have been the enemy of the America First conservative for years.
Facebook has used their capital to advantage Democrats in voting, spending over 30 million in Texas during the 2020 elections.
Pinterest, Google, YouTube and Twitter have all engaged in forms of support for left-wing policies and politicians.
Project Veritas released an undercover video where a Google executive admitted her team was working to avoid the “next Trump situation”. She said, “We all got screwed over in 2016, again it wasn’t just us, it was, the people got screwed over, the news media got screwed over, like, everybody got screwed over so we’re rapidly been like, what happened there and how do we prevent it from happening again.”
DoorDash, Amazon, Microsoft and hundreds of other companies have donated to and supported the BLM movement - a movement that seeks to destroy America, the traditional family and general race relations in America.
We must use our money to battle these corporations.
Conservatives must be willing to spend their money with businesses and organizations that support their values. Or at least spend money at companies who aren’t completely bent on destroying the political Right.
The Right needs to embrace conservative & Christian-owned establishments over godless multinational corporations. Support alternative tech platforms like Gab by creating an account and replacing your traditional social media. Purchase your morning coffee from a Christian-owned coffee shop rather than supporting Starbucks who runs an employee-matched donation program to Planned Parenthood.
Corporations hate you, hate your family and hate America. Strike back by using your wallet. Companies should experience an implied cost when they undermine traditional, Christian, American values.
UPDATE: 4/6/2021
Since the time of the original publication, a list has been compiled of over 200 companies who are “speaking out” against the voter bill. The statement calls this a “nonpartisan commitment to equality and democracy”.
Companies include PayPal, Uber, Under Armour, AT&T, Dell Technologies, HP, BP Oil, Levi’s, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Pinterest, REI, SalesForce, Target, Twitter, Unilever, United Airlines, Zillow, H&M and Discovery Channel.
We live in a country run by left-wing corporations.
